2 local theaters to hold auditions

The Lawrence Community Theatre will hold auditions for "Bell, Book and Candle" Aug. 26 and 27 at the theater. The play by John Van Druten will run Sept. 28 through Oct. 7. Roles are available for three men, two women and a cat. For more information, call 843-SHOW. In addition, the Liberty Hall Players will hold auditions for "The Music Man" by Meredith Willson at 7 p.m. Aug. 28, 29 and 30 at the Liberty Hall rehearsal room, 2 E. Seventh. Callbacks, if needed, will be Sept. 4. The musical will be performed Oct. 11-21 at Liberty Hall; it will be directed by Judy Wright. About 30 roles are available in all age groups. Auditions set for radio theater

KANU-FM's Imagination Workshop will hold auditions Aug. 26 and 27 for the upcoming season. The group presents live radio skits and plays originating from the Lawrence Arts Center. Auditioners should have some knowledge of the medium, and they should prepare a three-to-five-minute audition piece. Auditions begin at 2 p.m. next Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium, 707 Vt. For more information, call 864-4530.

Photo contest, workshop on tap

The Kansas Dance Network will hold a "Better Body" workshop at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Lawrence School of Ballet, 205 W. Eighth. The workshop, led by Marsha Duff, Arvella Frazier and Mary Halverstadt, will offer instruction in massage using tennis balls, stretching techniques and lower back care. The network is also sponsoring a black-and-white photo contest for a calendar. The theme is "The Artist: The Athlete." The photos should show either the artistry of athletes or the athletic abilities of dancers. The deadline for the contest is Oct. 1; for more information, write Marsha Duff at 200 W. State agency offers retreat

The Association of Community Arts Agencies will hold a retreat for arts administrators Sept. 26-27 in Abiline. The retreat will offer workshops on relieving stress, writing evaluations and exchanging ideas. For more information, write the association at P.O. Box 1363, Salina 67402.
