Law enforcement report
An 18-year-old Lawrence man was arrested on a count of arson after he allegedly set fire to a hay bale at 11:13 p.m. Thursday in a field about a mile north of Baldwin near the intersection of County Roads 12 and 1750E. A rural Baldwin man called officers after reportedly seeing the suspect light the bale, sheriff's officers reported. Damage was estimated at $25.
Rita Lesser, 26, Rt. 1, Lecompton, was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after an accident at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Wakarusa Drive and West 15th Street. She was a passenger in a van driven north on Wakarusa by Christopher T. Lesser, 28, also of rural Lecompton, that collided at the intersection with a car driven by Todd Oleson, 18, Abilene. Police said Oleson was driving west on 15th and failed to stop at a stop sign. He was cited for running the sign, having no proof of insurance and having an illegal registration.
Arthur Williams, 41, Ottawa, was treated and released from LMH after an accident at 6:36 p.m. Thursday at Sixth and Maine. Police reported that Williams was westbound on Sixth when he drove through a red light. His car collided with a van that was turning onto Sixth and was driven by Karen J. Robinson, 45, 235 N. Mich. Williams was cited for running the light.
Kim A. Nee, 32, Kansas City, Mo., was treated and released from LMH after a two-car accident at 5:03 p.m. Thursday on McDonald Drive near Princeton Drive. Police reported that Nee was a passenger in a car driven by James F. Oneill, 32, Prairie Village, that collided head-on with a car driven by Esteban M. Olivas, 25, Topeka. Olivas was cited for driving left of the center line, having no driver's license, having no proof of insurance and having an expired license tag.
Toni J. Holladay, 33, 316 Birch, was treated and released from LMH after an accident at 12:25 p.m. Thursday on Ninth Street east of New Hampshire. Police reported that Holladay was stopped on Ninth and was preparing to make a left turn when the pickup truck she was driving was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by Paul E. Otrimble, 29, Perry. A police report contained no record of citations being issued.
Carleen E. Eubank, 16, Rt. 5, remained in critical condition today at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., with injuries she suffered in a two-vehicle accident Sunday about 1 miles south of Lawrence near U.S. Highway 59 and Douglas County Road 458.
Maxmilian Little, 19, a Haskell Indian Junior College student from Omaha, Neb., was listed in fair condition today at KUMC. He was injured Thursday when he was hit by a train near North Fifth and Locust.
Phil Shuckahosee, 22, 2608 La., was listed in fair condition today at Humana Hospital, Overland Park, with injuries he suffered in a car-motorcycle accident Tuesday evening at Clinton Parkway and Crossgate Road.
