May I express my alarm and surprise over your article in last Sunday's Journal-World suggesting that the voters of Lawrence have relatively little interest in abortion as an issue. While this may be true, it seems that the issue will be coming before the state legislature this next session. Voters will have considerably more interest at that time. When one legislative candidate came to my door he stated that he would not be able to represent anything but an anti-abortion stance. It was interesting to me that he had such a strong opinion.
While the voters may not seem to be caught up with the issue of abortion, the candidates seem to have their minds made up. I think that makes it worthy of consideration.
Personally, abortion is a main issue and I want to support a candidate who has a pro-choice attitude.
