A 26-year-old Lawrence woman was injured Tuesday evening when she fell from an apartment balcony, prompting a man who identified himself as her boyfriend to threaten a man he accused of pushing her off the balcony, Lawrence police reported today.
The woman was taken at 9:15 p.m. by Life Flight helicopter to the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., after she fell from a third-floor balcony at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Fireside.
A KUMC spokesman said today that the woman was admitted in serious condition with a fractured pelvis, but was listed today in fair condition.
At 11:15 p.m., police reported, a 28-year-old Lawrence man was confronted at his apartment in the 700 block of Arkansas by a man who accused him of hurting the woman.
The men began arguing. During the fight, the armed man pulled a gun out of his pants, pointed it at the 28-year-old man and threatened to shoot him in the head.
A third man then stepped in and convinced the armed man to put the gun away, police said.
Officers this morning were still sorting out details of the incident, and no further details were available. No arrests have been made.
Police have identified the armed man and are attempting to contact him.
