Law enforcement report

Burglaries and thefts reported

Several pieces of computer equipment, valued together at $3,839, were was stolen from Hashinger Hall's computer facility at Kansas University on Tuesday. According to a KU police report, two computers, two disk drives and a printer were stolen from the room between 2:35 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

Sheriff's reports

A 23-year-old Lawrence woman reported she was struck in the head with a hammer while she was asleep about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near Clinton Lake, Douglas County Sheriff's officers reported. The woman, who had been sleeping in a blanket about 40 yards southeast of a pavilion at the Clinton Lake overlook shelter, said she was struck in the head with a hammer three times by a man who was completely nude, sheriff's officers reported. A sheriff's spokesperson said the woman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by private vehicle, and was treated and released. The man was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, in his late 50s or early 60s years old, and slightly overweight with a receding white or gray hairline, the spokesperson said. The man drove away in a dark blue, late-model Lincoln Continental, the sheriff's spokesperson said.
