On April 12, a group of KU students associated with the Rock Chalk Revue presented a check for $30,000 to United Way of Douglas County. The Board of Directors of United Way wants to express sincere gratitude for their generosity on behalf of its 26 local member agencies.
Throughout this past year, Rock Chalk Revue participants showed a real interest not only in the campaign but in learning more about services provided by our agencies. Students attended United Way meetings and communicated on a regular basis with United Way staff and volunteers. Their enthusiasm was contagious.
The community spirit demonstrated by the involvement from these KU students is a fine example of the town-gown relationship that makes Lawrence such a special place. A hearty congratulations to Rock Chalk Revue Executive Director Ned Nixon and his entire staff for a great show and a job well done. Not only have these students learned valuable organizational skills but they had the opportunity to feel the sense of pride that comes from helping others.
President, United Way
of Douglas County.
