Criminal case proceedings
Dane R. Griffin, 26, 1604 W. 26th, Wednesday pleaded guilty to a felony count of selling cocaine and pleaded no contest and was found guilty of a felony count of not affixing a Kansas drug tax stamp to cocaine. The charges were filed April 10, 1989, along with a felony count of possessing cocaine after Griffin allegedly sold the drug to a confidential informant working for local law officers. A judge dismissed the possession charge during a preliminary hearing, prompting prosecutors to file an interlocutory appeal of the judge's decision. The Kansas Supreme Court backed the judge's ruling. Also Wednesday, prosecutors dismissed a separate case containing felony counts of selling cocaine and possessing cocaine filed Oct. 26 of last year against Griffin.
