Services for Fred Patterson Sr., 100, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary L. Myer officiating. Burial will be in Reno Cemetery in southern Leavenworth County.
Mr. Patterson died Wednesday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born May 4, 1889, in Haddam.
Mr. Patterson had worked for Lawrence Transfer and Storage, for the Union Pacific Railroad and also farmed for several years. He helped build the Eudora power plant and worked at Hercules Powder Plant at DeSoto during World War II. He was caretaker of Memorial Park and Oak Hill cemeteries in Lawrence for several years and owned a lawn care service. He retired in 1975.
He married Mary Alice Tipton on Aug. 22, 1942, in Olathe. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Hogan, Kansas City, Kan., and Sharon Downing and Patricia Patterson, both of Lawrence; two sons, John, Lawrence, and Joseph, Kansas City, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
