Services for Richard L. "Dick" Ehrman, 65, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Bishop and Russ Farwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ehrman died Monday afternoon at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of cancer. He was born May 21, 1924, in Chanute. He moved to Lawrence in 1945 and earned a bachelor of science degree in business from Kansas University in 1950. In 1951, he went to work for the Lawrence Paper Co. He was transferred to Fremont, Neb., in 1957 to oversee the construction of the Jayhawk Box Factory, a division of the paper company. In 1965, he returned to Lawrence and worked in production and sales until his retirement in July 1986. For the past three years, he was a consultant to the paper company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi social fraternity at KU and he attended the Lawrence Free Methodist Church.
He married Leta Jean Ramsdell on Jan. 16, 1949, in Burlington. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Radd K., Kent, Ohio, and Bart D., Chapel Hill, N.C.; a daughter, Kerry Lynn Ehrman Brown, Waverly, Neb.; a brother, Robert, Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Juanita Alloway, Derby, and Billie Allen, Chanute; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the building fund at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church, in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
