— Services for Gordon S. Barber, 71, Topeka, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tibbitts-Griffin Funeral Chapel here. Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 58 will conduct graveside services at Topeka Cemetery.

Mr. Barber died Sunday at a Topeka convalescent center.

Mr. Barber worked for the Morrell Packing Co. for several years before becoming a painting contractor. He worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. until an accident forced his retirement. He then operated the G.S. Barber Todelo Scale Distributorship in Topeka for 27 years before he retired in 1983.

He was born June 25, 1918, in Kingston, Mo. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1936.

Mr. Barber was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, Oakland International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 640, Oakland Rebekah Lodge No. 616 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 58, all in Topeka. He held all offices in the Eagles Lodge.

Mr. Barber also had been active the past 20 years in the Eagles Youth Projects and the Youth Ranch in Admire, and was chairman of the O'Connell Youth Ranch east of Lawrence.

He was married to Mary E. Meyers on Sept. 20, 1940, in Topeka, and she survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Ray E. Barber, Wichita, Donald E. Barber Sr., Baldwin, and Gary Lee Barber, Olathe; a daughter, Beverly Sue O. Badgley, Topeka; two sisters, Evelene Smith, Topeka, and Frances Harner, Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the chapel. Friends also may call until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Eagles Lodge Cancer Fund, 2941 Fremont, Topeka 66605.
