Dear Editor:

The county commissioners of Douglas County are jumping on the tax wagon with a proposed sales tax. This is in addition to the state reappraisal and reclassification increase in property taxes. The voters of this county have twice rejected such a tax, once in 1984 and again in 1987 by over a 1,000-vote margin. Also, what guarantee do the voters have that the funds from this tax will be used to decrease the property tax mill levy None! How long will the voters of this county continue to support such ridiculous actions as this proposed sales tax?

Now is the time for voters to exercise your voting privilege and send a message to the commission: No more taxes of any kind!
