Services for Garner Ray Bailey, 72, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rumsey Funeral Home, Lawrence, with the Revs. Mike Proctor and Duane Rice officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey died Thursday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1917, in Star City, Ark.
Mr. Bailey worked at Stokely Van Camp in Lawrence from 1953 until he retired in 1981. He previously had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Cass, Ark., and worked in Ozark, Ark., several years before he moved to Lawrence. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Bailey was a member of the Assembly of God in Eudora.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Mason, Eudora, and Wilma Ray, Lawrence; a son, Gene Bailey, Lawrence; his mother, Ruth Marble, Star City, Ark.,; a brother, Floyd Bailey, Star City, Ark.; two half-sisters, Juanita St. John and Mattie Ruth Rodgers, both of Star City, Ark.; two half-brothers, Ralph Postel and Billy Postel, both of Star City, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Rumsey Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Assembly of God in Eudora.
