University-Community Forum: “The Village Model for Independent Living”

Members of the Lawrence Community Village Board: Brenda Nunes, Mary Johnson, and Tamara Cash will present along with Allison Steffen and Kris Roberts "The Village Model for Independent Living" Community Village Lawrence is a developing non-profit and membership-based service thats mission is to enhance the quality of life for the entire community by helping neighbors remain in their homes as they age. Community Village Lawrence aims to do this by creating a network of supports following a successful national model, the Village model. Come see this presentation to learn more about the program, what the organization has accomplished, where it is headed, and how to become a volunteer and participant. The University-Community Forum is one of the programs offered by the ECM at KU. This is a series of free presentations by faculty, students, and community members to educate and facilitate dialogue on ideas and events that shape our society. Talks are from 12-1 pm on Wednesdays. An optional lunch is served at 11:30, which costs $3.50 for students and $6.50 for community members.
