"Queering Christianity" - ECM Faith Forum 2013 Queer is not just about sexuality. Queerness is about living a life that questions and challenges social norms. Christian faith is often seen as against anybody who is not “straight” or who doesn’t conform to strict roles in society. This semester at Faith Forum: A Liberating Take on Christianity, we will be hearing stories from people who have realized in their faith journeys that there is nothing wrong with being “queer” and Christian. Together, we will explore what it means to follow Jesus by challenging all kinds of social expectations. Every other week, we will hear from presenters. The following week, we will gather for guided community-building and discussion as we explore what we have heard. Explorations will be flexible, not limited to just sexuality, but all issues such race, class, and gender. Diversity helps us all learn, so people – regardless of faith tradition – are invited to participate fully. Dinner (small donation request) begins at 6:30 PM and the program runs from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.
