RODEO AND DEMO DERBY ENTERTAINMENT FOR FAMILIES Shriners provide affordable, quality family fun
If you're looking for something fun to do on Memorial Day weekend that doesn't pinch the pocketbook, then the Shrine Rodeo and Demo Derby is for you.
For the 54th year, the Abdallah Shriners of Overland Park will host their annual Memorial Day rodeo and demo derby in Tonganoxie at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.
The rodeo, which has been going on for more than five decades, is May 23-24. The demo derby, which was just added last year, is May 25.
The Shriners strive to make the event family friendly. Kids'inflatable games, a craft fair, and food and other vendors will be on the grounds. Shrine clowns will be on the grounds, and prices are reasonable, said event chairman Nick Turner. "We know the economy isn't the greatest, and we work hard to make sure families can afford the rodeo and demo derby." Tickets are $12 for the rodeo and demo derby. Kids are discounted for the rodeo and are $4 for ages 6-12.
The Shriners are offering a Family Fun Pack for the rodeo May 23-24, which consists of 2 adult tickets, 2 children's tickets, and 4 meal deals. The Family Fun Pack is $40 through May 17; on May 18, the price goes up to $50.
Tickets for the rodeo and demo derby can be purchased at B&J Country Mart in Tonganoxie and online at ShrineRodeo.com. For more information on the event, visit the website (ShrineRodeo.com) or call 913.362.5300.
