Club(785) is a youth lock-in program offering quality entertainment to youth ages 9-14 from the hours of 7 pm until 11:30 pm at the Eudora Community Center (1630 Elm Street). This program serves the purpose of providing healthy activities like basketball, dancing, and other sports activities in a supervised social setting. Once an adult signs in their child, they are “locked-in” until either a parent picks them up or they choose to leave, but re-entry is not allowed. These upper middle-school and junior high students will have the option of dancing and listening to popular music, competing in sports activities, participating in social activities like limbo or obstacle courses, joining their friends for a snack, and in general socializing with friends and classmates. Club(785), in conjunction with Eudora Parks & Recreation Department, proudly provides this service to the Eudora community and surrounding areas in the hopes that allowing kids to socialize in an adequately supervised venue will help alleviate many common teen and pre-teen problems. Kids can enjoy a “night out” while their parents receive a “night off” secure in the knowledge that their children are participating in a program that monitors bullying, drugs or alcohol, smoking, or inappropriate public displays of affection. This is rarely the case when kids are dropped off at favorite meeting spots such as the movie-theater, mall or bowling alley. In an age when childhood obesity is rampant due to unhealthy lifestyles, this program offers the perfect opportunity to kids and parents looking for a healthy alternative to video games, IPADs, social media, computers, and television. Healthy snack options and exercise incentives will round off a great opportunity for kids to get out and have healthy fun in Eudora!!
