Basic Personal Finance & Investing provides an overview of financial planning considerations, including: financial goal setting; investment options such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs; risk tolerance and capacity; and diversification, asset allocation, and rebalancing of an investment portfolio. While the focus is on saving and investing for retirement, the principles apply to other long-term financial goals, such as providing for a child’s college education. The presentation is relevant to adults of all ages. It is free and open to the public, and lasts about 1½ hours with time for questions. Carnegie Building – East Wing, 200 W. 9th Street.
