EMU Theatre proudly announces our upcoming production, Snake, Rattle and Role, our annual 10-minute play festival. The show opens Friday, March 22nd at the Lawrence Arts Center, (940 New Hampshire St., Lawrence, Kansas), with additional shows on Saturday March 23rd, Friday March 29th and closing on Saturday March 30th. All shows will begin at 7:30 pm with doors opening at 7:00 pm. Tickets will be available at the door for only $7.00. The festival features nine shows that are written, directed and performed by local Lawrence talent. The plays range from the award-winning “Emilia’s Lover” where a brother and sister deal with their mother’s mysterious new lover and a humorous superhero parody in “Halloween: The Dark Night” to “Eight”, a quasi-musical farcical retelling of Henry Tudor's rule of England. A man carries out a home invasion robbery with mixed and confusing results in “Silent Alarm” while “Tall Tale” features a girl’s interactions with spirit animals in order to deal with the stress in her life “Kuppulls Thairoppee” features a doctor who conducts a highly unconventional marriage counseling session. On the dramatic side we present “Visitation” featuring a woman seeking advice and guidance on a family matter, "God’s Work" which looks into a young girl’s attempts to deal with life and death and “The Things We Leave Behind” where a man directly confronts his dying father. EMU Theatre Inc. is an inclusive association of individuals dedicated to mounting projects, like this play festival, which foster a spirit of cooperation and artistic growth among artists working in the theatre.
