"Can you be a dispassionate, uninvolved observer of horrific events, recording them for posterity and still keep a sense of right and wrong, not to mention your sanity? TIME STANDS STILL... layered with an intriguing seriousness that inspires discussion after the curtain comes down..." -Associated Press Opening at Theatre Lawrence in February is the Tony Nominated drama Time Stands Still, written by the Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies. Originally premiering in LA in 2009, Time Stands Still ran on Broadway in 2010 and was nominated for Tony's for Best Play and Best Actress. The story is set in Brooklyn and revolves around Sarah, played by the 2013 Diva winner Erica Fox, a photo journalist who has returned from covering the Iraq war after being injured by a roadside bomb. Regional actor Jim Ramos plays her reporter boyfriend James, who is swamped by guilt for leaving Sarah alone in the war zone. Bill Burman and Megan Misenhelter, take the roles of a photo editor and his much younger girlfriend who visit the couple. The play focuses on relationships, as well as on Sarah and James' prospects for a more conventional life. Time Stands Still also touches on some of the moral and ethical questions our society poses in our need to know and understand what is happening around the world. The production is directed and designed by Piet Knetsch, with Mary Ann Saunders as the Assistant Director. Costumes are designed by Megan Whitaker and the Lighting Design by Jayme Schoneweis. SHOW: February 22, 23, 24, 28 and March 1, 2, 3 Thursday - Saturday show: 7:30pm and Sundays 2:30pm Opening night audiences are invited to a 6:30pm pre-show reception catered by Maceli's.
