Science on Tap. 400 Million Years on Six Legs: Evolution of the Insects

Event details

Insects are the most ecologically and evolutionarily successful group of organisms, with more species than all other species of life combined. They are also a remarkably ancient group, with representatives going back to the earliest faunas to emerge from the oceans onto land. For this Science on Tap, Curator of entomology and professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Michael Engel, will discuss recent discoveries from the insect fossil record, and how the Age of Dinosaurs and Age of Mammals are both eclipsed by an overarching “Age of Insects”.

Science on Tap is an informal Science Cafe event brought to you by the KU Natural History Museum and Free State Brewing Company.
