Event details

Workshop to lay out Natural and Cultural Heritage Grant Program application process The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council will host a grant application workshop for people and organizations with an interest in applying for a grant from the Natural and Cultural Heritage Grant Program. The workshop, which will provide an overview of the grant application process, will be held on Thursday, January 24 from 7-9 p.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse on the 2nd floor. The Douglas County Commission created the Heritage Conservation Council to oversee heritage conservation efforts in the County, including the Natural and Cultural Heritage Grant Program. Of the $325,000 the Commission allocated in the 2013 budget to assist with natural and cultural heritage conservation projects, $276,500 is dedicated to the Natural and Cultural Heritage Grant Program. Applicants may submit proposals for either major or target grants. A major grant proposal is defined as a proposal requesting at least $105,000. Target grant proposals are equally important for conserving Douglas County natural and cultural heritage and may request at most $104,999. More information, including the grant application form and grant guidelines, can be found on the Heritage Conservation Council’s website at http://www.douglas-county.com/depts/ad/hcc/ad_hcc.aspx. Applications are due March 15, and the Heritage Conservation Council is expected to make a recommendation by late April or early May.
