In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Cordley Elementary students will raise money for The students’ service project began January 3 and will run through January 18. The community is invited to participate by bringing spare change to the school. provides water wells and clean water to those in need throughout the world. Just $25 can provide safe water for a person’s whole life. Cordley’s goal is to donate $1,000.

Students will collect coins in buckets in their classrooms and empty the buckets into a homemade wishing well near the school’s main entrance. Capital City Bank will help collect the coins when the project is complete. The fundraiser will close with a choir concert, assembly, and the classrooms’ winter parties January 18.
