This project will provide a performing arts response to the difficult issue of bullying, one of the most challenging issues among today's young adults and adolescents. Members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles will be performing at the Lied Center, along with local choirs, in a theatrical event created with Speak Theater Arts. This multimedia performance will include video and text projections from the archives of the national It Gets Better movement, in addition to local video, and will focus on bullying and the broader issues of tolerance and diversity. Middle School Education and Community Partnerships To further explore the issues addressed in this performance, the Lied Center will partner with Christie Dobson, drama therapist and local teaching artist, along with educators, school counselors and others, to create pre-and post-performance school-specific projects in Lawrence middle schools. The Lied Center will also partner with local choirs, community groups and leaders to expand the dialogue on this important issue.
