Presented by the Indian Ink Theatre Company, Guru of Chai is ready to awaken us to the power of the divine. The cast consists of a musician and founding partner Jacob Rajan, who will portray 16 characters. Set in the central train station in Bangalore, India, a poor chaiwallah's (tea seller) life is changed forever when a young girl is abandoned in the busy station and brings the place to a standstill with her beautiful singing. The cultural contradictions of India, with its iPhones and ancient gods, form the backdrop to this story about the dangers of keeping your soul locked in a cage. About Indian Ink Company: Founded in 1997, Indian Ink Theatre Company is one of New Zealand's most successful theatre companies. Founding partners Jacob Rajan and Justin Lewis, write and act in their productions with the help of musician and composer Dave Ward. Indian Ink has won three Production of the Year Awards, two Edinburgh Fringe First Awards and broken box office records with tours throughout New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Scotland.
