The Douglas County Democratic Party will sponsor a panel discussion on the status of women and children in Kansas on Sunday, April 28th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Building located at 9th and Vermont in Lawrence.

Panelists include: Mark Desetti, Director of Government Affairs & Communication at the KNEA; Dr. Donna Ginther, Director of the Center for Science Technology and Economic Policy at KU; Dr. Jennifer Hamer, Professor of American Studies at KU; Elise Higgins, Lobbyist for the National Organization for Women; Don Jordan, former Secretary of the Kansas Department for Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS); Sandy Praeger, Kansas State Insurance Commissioner.

"Creating opportunities for women and children in our state is critical to Kansas' long-term economic and social success," said Margie Wakefield, Chair of the Douglas County Democratic Party. "We hope the public will join us for this moderated discussion on issues that matter most to women and children in Kansas including: education, health care, jobs, reproductive rights, and social services."
