Chicago-based artist and writer Meg Onli discusses the state of art criticism, utilizing blogging to address marginalized subjects, and the opportunities and freedom that the Internet offers. Onli's work has been exhibited nationally, and her writing, which investigates the intricacies of black visual representations in America, is catalogued on the website Black Visual Archive, which she founded in 2010 and for which she was awarded a 2012 Creative Capitol Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. From 2006 to 2010, she was the associate producer of the podcast and blog Bad at Sports. She has written for the Art21 blog as well as Daily Serving. Onli is in town to serve as one of two national jurors on the Rocket Grants Curatorial Panel, providing valuable insight, perspective, and experience in reviewing the 60 applications submitted by individual artists and artist groups seeking awards (totaling over 244 individual artists).
