The Lumberyard Arts Center will host a new exhibit with an artist’s reception on Friday, September 21 from 7 to 9 pm. “Object-ive Vision” by Jim Sallenbach, an accomplished self-taught artist, will have several works inspired by the Lumberyard Arts Center and its previous existence as a real functioning lumberyard, with some pieces created from found objects in the unfinished portion of the building. Sallenbach takes ordinary and often discarded objects and turns them into thought-provoking individual pieces of art. His works are primarily mixed media on paper collage, mixed media sculpture and repurposing of found objects. He has exhibited works in several area galleries from Lawrence to Ottawa and Paola as well as El Dorado, KS, to Long Beach, Los Angeles and San Francisco in California. The show will continue through Friday, October 19 during regular gallery hours of 1pm to 4pm Tuesday through Friday and 9am to noon on Saturday plus the weekend of October 20 and 21, during the Maple Leaf Festival.
