Featured writers Chandra Dickson and Brenda Sieczkowski read poetry. The featured readers will follow an open mic session, so bring a poem to share. As always, there will be a merch table, so support our readers by buying their chapbooks. Chandra E.A. Dickson is the founder and current editor of the webzine Poetry for the Masses. She is an adjunct professor and lives in Wichita, KS. Adam Day on A Short History of Our Love (Finishing Line Press 2012): "Chandra E.A. Dickson’s poems are tough, visceral, ambitious and emotionally intelligent. Images of the domestic and sexual life, and those of the natural world, are introduced as familiar, but are quickly turned on their heads. Here, the public and private collude in a novel and broken world, and the voice that drives these poems is authoritative, and original. They are poems hauntingly articulated." Brenda Sieczkowski is completing, at snail’s pace, a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Utah while working full time with Omaha’s chronically homeless population. Her poems and lyric essays have appeared in a wide variety of journals, and her chapbook, WonderGirl in Monster Land, is available from dancing girl press. A full-length collection, Like Oysters Observing the Sun, will be published by Black Lawrence Press in 2013. Favorite Deformation Events recorded by the Carnegie Mellon Auditory Lab: “Crush cabbage on board,” “Sawing 2-Liter (Japanese saw),” and “Breaking matzo.”
