"Prairie Roots: Growing a Sustainable Future," the 30th anniversary event of the Kansas Area Watershed Council, will be held May 4-6 at Camp Hammond (between Lawrence and Topeka). This family-friendly weekend, focused on how to live artfully and soulfully with ecological integrity, features Stephanie Mills, author, activist and speaker, along with over a dozen workshops, kids' workshops throughout the weekend, local foods and healthy meals, celebrations, an open mic, storytelling around the fire, and displays from three dozen ecological organizations and businesses. Most of all, this event is a chance to make more friends, find ideas and inspiration. Reasonable rates (and some scholarships available); camp, stay in cabins or commute; come to all or part! www.kawcouncil.org
