How Much is enough when it comes to making the world a better place. First off, 1) should we even care; 2) how do we make the world better off if we even want to; 3) what are promising avenues for making a difference today? Does “making a difference matter?” And, if so, how much effort is enough effort? This is a question I think those who are trying to make a difference have to ask themselves almost daily as they sort requests for them to get involved in various charities, boards or causes. This is a perennial question and yet we have very little modern philosophy about. What is your philosophy about this? When I think about it, to break this down, I look at it like most people feel one of 3 ways: 1- What can you do anyway? I am going to mind my own business and not help out… 2- Another person looks for a balanced contribution of caring about everything and caring for themselves 3- Another person will do “everything that they can” until exhaustion. Any of these 3 ideas represent you? Come to Tap and discuss this stuff and bring whatever is on your plate today. Come late and leave early or come for the whole time. Have a drink or have a coffee or tea, whatever. We meet almost every Thursday 5:30-7 at Henry’s Bar upstairs.
