2012 Carnivale du Soul with Hearts of Darkness and The Good Foot

The inaugural Carnivàle du Soul, will be held at the Uptown Theater (3700 Broadway) on Saturday, February 18. Carnivàle du Soul has been created as the gala event of the 11 year tradition of Mardi Gras carnival season in Kansas City. This new event promises an exciting night of the best soul music and spectacle. Masquerade dress is encouraged and partygoers are encouraged to rep their krewes.

Hearts of Darkness and The Good Foot will headline the main stage.

Hearts of Darkness melds American funk and soul, hip-hop and Kansas City jazz big-band traditions into an afrobeat-based foundation to create the undeniably huge sound considered one of the most popular live acts in town.

The Good Foot is a Kansas City soul revue playing the hottest hits from the Motown and Stax era as well as originals. This night will mark the official release of The Good Foot's first single "Bad Way", a joint project with Hearts of Darkness and includes "Numeration", the first single off their forthcoming album. 7" 45rpm records (with digital download) will be available for sale

Opening the show will be DJ Fat Sal with Voler Aerial Fabrics. Also featured will be DJ sets by Superwolf and Joc Max. These three are some of the most experienced dance floor DJs in town, specializing in rare funk, soul, R&B, Afro-Caribbean, and reggae on vinyl.

Tickets are available in advance for $15.00 at www.uptowntheater.com and with no service charge at the venue. The cover charge on the day of show is $20.00. VIP tickets will be available for $25.00 which includes admission to the after party VIP lounge in Westport. This is an all-ages event.
