(Kansas City, MO – November 12, 2012) Fine Arts Chorale will present “Holiday Touchstones” at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont Street, Lawrence, Kansas, on December 16, 2012 at 3:00 P.M, featuring guest organist, Geoffrey Wilcken, of Lawrence.
This acclaimed program is based on ancient carols and hymns, including Coventry Carol, and Away in a Manger. Fine Arts Chorale will perform each tune in arrangements by composers representing periods from the Renaissance to 21st Century, and Wilcken will play an arrangement of the tune for organ. The program will also include literature that combines choir and organ, such as Phillip Ledger’s “Still, still, still,” and Wilcken’s arrangement of “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”
Other featured composers include Chester Alwes, Harold Darke, H. C. Stewart and Ola Gjeilo.
Concert admission is free, but an offering will be taken by the church, which will also provide a reception following the concert.
