Event details

It's no secret that in recent years our food system has captured the attention of many Americans. Often times, however, the role of faith seems to be missing from the conversation. On April 28, we're going to change that. The University of Kansas is hosting the conference Sowing and Reaping: Christian Perspectives on Food and Agriculture. There will be talks on farming as ministry, religious and ethical responses to hunger, the sanctity of seeds and soil, farmworkers' rights, and much more.

While the focus is on Christianity, all faiths are welcome, and we hope that this conference will serve as a springboard for further interfaith dialogue.

The conference will be at ECM (1204 Oread Ave, Lawrence) from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. It is free, and there will be a local, mainly organic lunch available on a sliding scale of $5-15. Please visit the Facebook event page for the full list of speakers and to RSVP for the event. The event will also be liveblogged on Twitter under the hashtag #kufood. We hope you will join us for a day of information-sharing, conversation, and reflection! For additional information, contact Simran Sethi at
