Press Release Menacin Johnson meanders back to the Midwest for a pair of ‘Left Coast-meets-No Coast’ shows to begin the month of April!!! Kansas City, MO, March 1st, 2012: Menacin Johnson, an esteemed member of Los Angeles’ legendary Project Blowed, is making his way back to the Midwest for a couple shows with longtime friend, collaborator and partner-in-rhyme, Emcee Reach. The two have shared a stage three times over the last several years in areas surrounding Kansas City, MO. Johnson will be returning to Kansas City for two shows on April 1st at Jackpot Music Hall (943 Massachusetts Street) and April 2nd at recordBar (1020 Westport Road). Vertigone, Reach, Milkdrop and DJ Nuveau will flank MJ on the former show in Kansas City. Newcomer Benny Kress, DJ Travis Read and Reach will join him for the 4/2 date in Lawrence, KS. Johnson will be accompanied by a trio of emcees (Jerry Done, Rok Phenom and Phi Free) on the tour. The admission price being asked of patrons, 21 years and older, is $5 for both shows. Doors open at 9pm and the show will begin promptly at 10pm. Menacin has been touring the country as an independent artist for the better part of 7 years. He’s opened for Abstract Rude (of Abstract Tribe Unique) and Aceyalone (of Freestyle Fellowship). Johnson’s also recorded songs with Stones Throw’s Oh No and Prince Po (of Organized Konfusion). Alongside his solo efforts (three self-released EP’s) Johnson is also one-third of LA group Tha Lepht Field (with No Alias and EMS). Their most recent project, Do The Right Thing, was released in July 2011 on Bandcamp (http://noalias.bandcamp.com/). Emcee/Producer No Alias is the link between MJ and Emcee Reach. They met for the first time in 2008 when N/A flew to Kansas City for Reach’s 1st Annual Birthday Bash. He’s returned twice to play Kansas City, Lawrence, Columbia and St. Louis. Johnson revisits the “City of Fountains” to ‘water’ the seeds he’s previously planted with Kansas City audiences.
