2nd Annual Wayne Simien Free Throw Challenge

UPDATE: The preliminary round will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at various gyms throughout the community. The finals have been postponed to Saturday, April, 7. They will start at 2 p.m. at Allen Fieldhouse.

Original information: The 2nd Annual Wayne Simien Free Throw Challenge is fast approaching giving Lawrence and surrounding area residents the opportunity to test their basketball prowess, as well as benefit TWO local non-profit programs: Family Promise of Lawrence and Called to Greatness sports ministry.

Young and old, individuals and teams are invited to step to the free throw line on the court of the famous Allen Fieldhouse and compete.

Contestants will have the chance to meet our local NBA Champion and All-American Wayne Simien. Just by participating, hoopsters will also help support Family Promise of Lawrence, an inter-faith hospitality network committed to housing homeless families and Called to Greatness, a multi-sports ministry program that allows underprivileged kids a chance to play.

The deadline to enter the 2nd Annual Wayne Simien Free Throw Challenge is noon, Thursday March 29. Individuals, teams, and open divisions are all welcome. The entry fee is: $10 for individuals, $50 for teams. Trophies, medals and prizes will be awarded for the most successful shots in each division.
