If God exists, does God interact with us?

Did God set creation in motion and leave it be? Is God present in all our lives or distant standing outside and above? Does God respond to prayer or has God already determined what God will do? These and other questions we will explore as we try to understand what God does. Our discussion will be enriched with two passages of scripture:

Habakkuk 1:12-13 LORD, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, you will never die. You, LORD, have appointed them to execute judgment; you, my Rock, have ordained them to punish. Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?

Jeremiah 20:7-9 You deceived me, LORD, and I was deceived; you overpowered me and prevailed. I am ridiculed all day long; everyone mocks me. Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So the word of the LORD has brought me insult and reproach all day long. But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.

Habakkuk wonders at God's silence while Jeremiah complains of God's forceful presence. Bring your thoughts, opinions, theories, philosophies, and whatever else you got.

Come to tap, drink your way to enlightenment, have a laugh, make an argument, make a friend. This Thursday and every Thursday and Henry’s bar upstairs from 5:30-7.
