The KU School of Music is pleased to present A Liszt Odyssey, September 11-13, 2011. This festival is set to become one of the most memorable and visible Liszt festivals in the world as it will feature Alan Walker, the world’s greatest authority on Liszt, and composer Mohammed Fairouz and his world premiere of The Last Resistance, a work created specifically for the festival. The festival will include the following events, all FREE and open to the public: Sunday, September 11, 2011, 7:30 PM A Liszt Odyssey Student Organ Recital Bales Organ Recital Hall, Lawrence, KS Monday, September 12, 2011, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM Master class for duo pianists with Massimiliano Baggio Swarthout Recital Hall, Lawrence, KS Monday, September 12, 2011, 12:30 PM Collaborative Recital featuring Pianist Robert Koenig, Baritone Chris Thompson, Soprano Callie Schlegel, Violist Peter Chun, and Clarinetist Robert Walzel Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, KS Monday, September 12, 2011, 7:30 PM Alan Walker--Lecture, Liszt and the Keyboard: the Wizard Casts His Spells The Lied Center, Lawrence, KS Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 7:30 PM Recital, Aspects of Liszt, featuring music of Liszt performed by Professor Steven Spooner and the world premiere of the Piano Sonata No. 2 (2011), The Last Resistance, written by Mohammed Fairouz The Lied Center of Kansas, Lawrence, KS
