SONIC SUTRA, the talented quintet from Lawrence, KS, brings to the stage a big classic sound bursting with funky modern swagger, infecting the ears and feet of audiences across the Midwest. Bursting with creativity and passion, the band’s live performances are driven by the heartfelt songs of guitarist/front man Billy Wassung and exude a sense of freedom and enthusiasm flowing from the band members themselves. The music invites listeners to join in the dance and celebrate life, taking audiences on a musical journey that transcends any one genre. SONIC SUTRA came into being during the summer of 2009 when a group of longtime friends and musical compadres officially joined forces to jam and perform their brand of psychedelic rock, funk, and dance music. Other band members include Blake Clemmer, wizard of the keyboards, and decidedly funky bassist Jon Studtmann. Multi-instrumentalist Matt Gader (guitarist/composer from The Cosmopolitics) provides the band’s heartbeat from behind the drums. The SONIC SUTRA lineup is completed by the stunning Miss Courtney Rose Smith, whose presence and formidable vocals provide the perfect harmony and an undeniable touch of grace.
