West Side Folk is thrilled to present a rare and very special reunion performance by SONiA and disappear fear, in the gorgeous new Pavilion at the Lied Center of the University of Kansas. It's been 15 years since the original sisters in disappear fear, SONiA (Rutstein) and CiNDY (Rutstein) Frank have recorded together, but they have a new CD of the songs of Phil Ochs, called Get Your Phil. It's quite rare for CiNDY to go on the road with SONiA, but they are bringing their gorgeous and powerful harmonies to Lawrence for this debut West Side Folk show in the Pavilion, in the Lied Center. SONiA has frequently been featured on the Phil Ochs' song nights presented by Phil's sister, Sonny Ochs, and has previously recorded two of Phil's songs. His music was an inspiration to SONiA, who has made a reputation as a singer-songwriter, activist and artist who writes in the stules of folk, blues, rock and country, and who sings in Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic as well as her native English. Her lyrics and melodies reflect her simple truth--when you disappear fear between people, what you have is love.
