Come join Goldilocks and the Three Bears for a fun-filled children's opera that is loaded with laughs! Jonathan Stinson's adaptation of the classic tale is complete with mistaken identities, a chase through the audience, and a chance for all the kids in the audience to participate. This 45-minute presentation will include a Q&A with young professionals in opera, and is appropriate for all ages. There will be performances at 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM. The program is funded by Reach Out Kansas Opera Outreach. The Opera Outreach program strives to dispel myths and old ideas that dismiss opera as an inaccessible art, and to illustrate opera's relevance to audiences young and old. The cast—a quartet of singers and a pianist— comprises recent graduates from the University of Kansas. Amy Cahill, soprano; Meaghan Deiter, mezzo soprano; Charles Martinez. tenor; Lane Johnson, baritone; and Evangelos Spanos, piano. The group will present more than 50 performances, free of charge, in schools, community centers, and senior centers, in rural, suburban, and urban communities of varying sizes, across the state of Kansas.
