Tonight's show at the Replay, 946 Mass., is a lo-fi delight. Michigan band Swimsuit make uptempo garage rockers that sound like they were recorded 40 years ago thanks to a combination of classic recording techniques and distant, murky vocals. Their first official album "Peace Gull" was released in August 2011 and is a collection of instrumentals with a a decidedly breezy tone that runs throughout. They also have a five-track demo the precedes "Peace Gull" with honest-to-goodness vocals. They are joined by Wheels on Fire. A member of Fat Possum records stable of talent, the Ohio band is a similarly loose, upbeat band that benefits greatly from lead vocalist Michael Chaney's swagger and attitude. Lawrence's own Rooftop Vigilantes open the show, which should set the tone quite nicely for the evening, given their penchant for discordant harmonies and walls of sound. The band's excitable, infectious energy shouldn't hurt either. Come see for yourself tonight starting at 10 p.m. The show is for the legal drinking crowd and tickets are a mere $2. That's an app price, Mr. iPhone.
