The English Department at KU and Raven Book Store are proud to bring two celebrated young literary authors to Kansas. Justin Taylor and Joshua Cohen will read at the Raven Book Store (6 E. 7th Street, Lawrence) on Thursday, March 17 at 7:00pm. The event is open to the public. Justin Taylor is touring the country in support of his debut novel, "The Gospel of Anarchy." Joshua Cohen is Visiting Writer in the English Department at KU for Spring 2011. His 2010 novel "Witz" received national praise and recognition. Author, essayist and critic, Joshua Cohen is the author of five books, including "A Heaven of Others," which will be rereleased this spring. His essays and criticisms can be found in Harper’s, The New York Times Book Review and The Believer. Publisher’s Weekly celebrated "Witz" as “An extravagant poeticism combined with an unbridled imagination burst from each considerable page of Cohen’s futuristic biblical opus.” Time Out New York wrote, “Cohen riffs on borscht-belt humor as easily as he does on metafictional legends such as Thomas Pynchon, another master of the absurdist, picaresque fantasy novel.” Cohen’s other books include the novel "Cadenza for the Schneidermann Violin Concerto." More information on "Witz" can be found at www.dalkeyarchive.com/book/?GCOI=15647100283710 Justin Taylor will be visiting Lawrence on his book tour for "The Gospel of Anarchy," released by Harper Perennial. The New York Times called Taylor “a new voice that readers - and writers, too - might be seeking out for decades to come.” The book was called, “A brilliant debut novel you have to read,” by Details and has received considerable praise from other sources. Taylor is also the author of the 2010 short-story collection "Everything Here is the Best Thing Ever," as well as "The Word Made Flesh: Literary Tattoos from Bookworms Worldwide" and was editor of the short-story collection "The Apocalypse Reader." www.harpercollins.com/authors/36110/Justin_Taylor/index.aspx
