LAND Dinner and Organizing Meeting
- Saturday, June 25, 2011, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Plymouth Congregational Church
- Age limit: All ages
We already know that Kris Kobach is working to get his anti-immigration agenda enacted in Kansas next year, so we need to be ready! Come get free dinner at this organizing meeting with the Lawrence Action Network for Diversity! We'll be making plans for outreach, education, and developing our strategy to make Lawrence and Kansas a welcome place for ALL people. Everybody has something to contribute -- we need YOU there! We'll meet on Saturday, June 25th at 7 PM, at Plymouth Congregational Church (925 Vermont). So far we've been incredibly successful - we held a great interfaith prayer vigil in March, and a peaceful protest back in April that got a lot of attention in the news. We joined the successful effort to ensure defeat of Arizona-style anti-immigrant legislation. Now let's take the next step and continue the hard work in front of us of building a community that embraces diversity. There are plenty of opportunities as we are planning an exciting series of events tentatively called: Debunking the Myths. Does the prospect of events ranging from: a film screening, public forum, presentations, salsa lessons, and interactive language classes and activities for Lawrence youth get those creative organizing juices inside of you flowing? Since we'll have dinner for you, so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so we know how many people to have food for. Let us know if you need transportation or childcare. And invite all of your friends!
