Tonight we talk about Hermeneutics!
Ooh no the “h” word- yep- and it’s not hell- it’s worse…
Hermes is the god of shepherds, land travel, merchants, weights and measures, oratory, literature, athletics and thieves, and known for his cunning and shrewdness. Most importantly, he is the messenger of the gods. Besides that he was also a minor patron of poetry.
But here, at tap, in the modern day and at the university- Hermeneutics is interpretation theory. There are 3 main kinds of interpretation theory that are used in English and History Departments of colleges as well as in Biblical interpretation.
Come find out the variety of ways that people read scripture, then categorize them, find out how you read scripture, categorize yourself!
Theology on Tap is an event, it happens, but it “happens” on a regular basis. In fact, not only tonight but pretty much every Thursday night from 5:30 to 7 at Henry’s bar upstairs.
See you there- Josh
