Hamburg, an internationally known movement analyst and lecturer, died in September.
As a researcher and teacher Hamburg specialized in therapeutic movement to help people facing movement challenges. She was especially involved with area and national Parkinson's groups after developing an acclaimed exercise program for people with Parkinson's disease, originally distributed internationally by the Parkinson's Disease Foundation in New York City and recommended by major Parkinson's foundations.
A Janet Hamburg Dance Scholarship has been established at the KU Endowment Association.
The memorial is sponsored by the Spencer museum and the Department of Dance in the KU School of the Arts.
