The Lied Center of Kansas will present “Spring Awakening,” the eight-time Tony Award-winning Broadway rock musical about the complicated journey from youth to adulthood, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Based on the play written by Frank Wedekind in 1891, the rock musical is a rousing combination of sexuality, morality and rock ‘n’ roll with a score by Duncan Sheik and choreography by Bill T. Jones. Set against the repressive and provincial times of late 19th century Germany, “Spring Awakening” follows three teenaged students as they grapple with puberty, self-discovery and arousal in a reserved era.
Tickets are on sale at the Lied Center ticket office, (785) 864-2787 or (785) 864-2777 TDD; Murphy Hall box office, (785) 864-3982; and online at lied.ku.edu.
Parental discretion is advised. Mature content, including brief partial nudity, sexual situations and strong language.
