Thirteen scholars will converge on the Dole Institute of Politics next week to discuss the U.S. Senate.
The event, “Changing the ‘Slow Institution’: The U.S. Senate 1960-2010,” is scheduled for March 25 and 26.
James Lindsay, senior vice president of the Council on Foreign Relations, will deliver the keynote address at noon March 26.
Here are other events, are free and open to the public, and will be in the Simons Media Room at the institute:
-- “The Senate (1960) and its Members” will feature Erik Schickler of the University of California-Berkeley, Alan Abramowitz of Emory University and Burdett Loomis of Kansas University, and will run from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. March 25.
-- “Parties and Procedure” will feature Barbara Sinclair of UCLA, Steve Smith of Washington University, and Sarah Binder of the Brookings Institution and George Washington University, and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. March 26.
-- “Policies, Nominations, and Looking to the Future” will feature Bruce Oppenheimer of Vanderbilt University, Frances Lee of the University of Maryland and David Rohde of Duke University, and will run from 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. March 26.
