The Spencer's spring break workshop for children aged 7-12 years, scheduled for Monday, March 15 through Thursday, March 18, is now at capacity, but the public is invited to the workshop's culminating event—a live collaborative music and story-telling performance in the Central Court on Thursday, March 18 at 6 PM. This public event is free and will also feature original compositions by professional percussionist, composer, and storyteller Cory Hills. Students will work with Cory to devise original stories inspired by works of art from the Spencer's collection. Using a variety of professional and home-made instruments, Hills will work with the students to create original musical compositions to bring the stories to life and to improvise in response to the artistic works selected. Stay tuned for future workshops, as well as It Starts with Art! children's art appreciation classes, by contacting the SMA Education Department at 785.864.0137 or emailing smakids@ku.edu
