Kid Congo Powers is best known as a member of seminal sexy swampy bands such as Gun Club, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Cramps. With his latest record, “Dracula Boots,” Powers comes back to his roots as a crackerjack guitarist playing the primitive music that inspired him: the raw sounds of garage and early “Chicano rock.” His latest set veers from fuzzy biker rock (“Hitchhiking”) to greasy rump-shaker grooves (“Bobo Boogie”) to scary movie soundtracks (”La Llarona”).
