Quirky, irreverent and funky, Primus created quite a name for itself in the 1990s. The Bay Area act served up a few platinum albums and several memorable singles (“Jerry was a Race Car Driver” and the Grammy-nominated “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver”), all powered by the oddball vocals and virtuoso bass playing of frontman Les Claypool. Although the band has continued touring with a variety of lineups through the modern era, it hasn’t released a proper album since 1999. But now the original lineup from 1988 is back (which includes guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane), and rumors of a new record abound.
